Course description

This live and interactive session will provide valuable insight into the Coroner's Court and how to conduct inquests using the new legislation effectively. It will consider the impact of the Coroner's and Justice Act 2009 and the 2013 Coroner’s Rules and Regulations.


Those who participate in this course will feel confident in their case preparation and appearance at an inquest, and will have the opportunity to discuss a variety of useful topics, such as the Chief Coroner’s powers and the delegation or transfer of duties or investigation.


The Coroners and Justice Act 2009 will be explored, along with what has changed since the old Coroners Act 1988. Delegates will learn how to make effective use of the PIR hearing, how to approach the exploration of evidence, and will be provided with an overview of Prevention Future Death reports and what they are.
