Course description
Life Drawing
You will examine ways of representing the human figure and portrait. Drawing from a live model, you will learn skills in observational and expressive drawing, and build confidence in handling a variety of drawing materials, using a wide variety of techniques. You will study a range of topics such as, how to approach drawing from the figure, using fundamental techniques, line and tonal work and how to consider proportion and develop skills in depicting forms.

What You'll Need to Join:
- Some previous drawing experience, such as drawing from a source or photographs.
- An interest in drawing from the figure.
Training Course Content
Week 1
Measuring and Looking - You will look at ways of measuring and using proportion to represent the figure from observation. Considering simplifying form and using construction lines.
Week 2
Capturing Complex Poses - You will look at ways of measuring and using proportion to represent the figure from observation. Considering simplifying form and using construction lines.
Week 3
Light & Dark - We will investigate uses of tone to create the form of the figure, in different lighting conditions.
Week 4
Making Your Mark - Working with a range of media and tools, you will look at how mark making can suggest different parts of the figure.
Week 5
Mixed Media Image Making - You will work on different surfaces to consider how surface affects the representation of the figure.
Week 6
The Big Draw - As a final session, we will work on a larger scale to create big images.
