Course description
This one-year course is ideal for school leavers who wish to study and gain practical experience before moving on to a Level 2 Automotive course. It is a good foundation programme if you want to develop a career in the automotive industry. The course allows you to build up your basic skills in vehicle body repair. This is a full-time course (16 hours per week). You'll have the best opportunity to experience a wide range of skills associated with the vehicle repair industry, including Body Repair, Vehicle Welding, Customising, Paint Refinishing, and Body Repair techniques.
We use a range of assessment methods, mainly practical observations of work you do in our workshop. Other assessment will be oral questioning and written answers and online examinations. You can progress to Level 2 after you have successfully completed this course.

Suitability - Who should attend?
You will need to attend a formal interview to discuss your suitability for the programme. Commitment and enthusiasm for the automotive industry are essential, along with a reasonable level of Maths and English, ideally at grade 3/D.
