Level 4 Award in the Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of Electric/ Hybrid Vehicles and Components– PT Evening  -  I4AEHE

This qualification it is designed specifically for technicians who are working on the maintenance and repair of electric/hybrid high voltage vehicle systems and components. Ideal for those working in the automotive industry or anyone who may encounter electric/hybrid vehicles within a routine maintenance situation. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely around a vehicle that may have had damage to its high energy/electrical system.

If you are a member of the IMI, you can use this qualification to gain IMI TechSafe™ accreditation, and therefore the ability to easily demonstrate to colleagues, customers and professionals that you’re fully qualified to be working on EV vehicles and/or vehicles with ADAS technologies.

Uxbridge College is pioneering the latest in high tech learning with its new training technologies for electric and hybrid car maintenance and repairs.
The college recently took delivery of a Mini Electric, which is being used hand in hand with its new state-of-the-art electric car simulator, the Car Train. Its EV (Electric Vehicle) courses will support the major shift towards the use of electric and hybrid vehicles, as the UK moves to end its contribution to global warming.

In order to achieve the qualification, candidates must pass all elements of the course within the current academic year– there will be no opportunity for any resits/resubmissions later. However, serious personal issues that arise that may adversely affect attendance and consequently completion of the course - these will be considered on a case by case basis. The on-line exam will be in the week after the end date of the course.

This is a full cost commercial course and all students pay fees, no concessions are available. ‘Fee refunds for commercial courses will not be awarded after two weeks before the scheduled start date of the course, unless the course is cancelled by the College.’

Certification is based upon the achievement of the passing the course content and paying the fees in full.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This course can only be undertaken after successful completion of Unit EV3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement and encounter electric/hybrid vehicles within their workplace.
This unit does not cover commercial or domestic electrical installations including charging equipment and cables.

Training Course Content

This course has two units covering the following skills;

  • Working safely on an electric/hybrid vehicle,
  • Using information to carry out the task,
  • Carrying out repairs on high energy electrical systems,
  • Recording information and making suitable recommendations.

    The purpose and aim of this qualification is to provide technicians working on electric/ hybrid vehicles with the required level of skills and knowledge to carry out repairs on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems safely
