Drawing & Painting - Oil & Acrylic Painting [FDF1010G]: OverviewThe aim of this course is to help you develop personal expression when using oils and/or acrylic paints; this will be done through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques.
What will we cover?
The course will establish a range of basic methods in Oil and Acrylic Painting through the use of sketchbook, photographs, found images or direct observation. You will learn to distinguish the use of tone, colour, composition and texture; gain confidence in using painting materials and be encouraged to take part in group discussions. Learners will have access to one to one support.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Those with some experience of painting would be helpful but not essential. This course is useful for those who need a refresher as well as those who are just starting out.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Bring whatever Oil and/or Acrylic painting materials you may already have purchased or a pad of A3 cartridge paper, Soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B), soft rubber and a graphite stick for the first session. Materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed at induction. If you need more instruction on basic materials please just bring a soft grade of pencil (4B or 6B), Drawing Pad (A3), soft rubber and a graphite stick for the first session and discuss with your tutor at the first class. What can I do when I finish the course?
To progress on to other courses in another media, to join other art groups, societies or to develop further within the same class, meet like minded people and make friends
Additional information
Learners are expected to bring their own materials Some less common or unusual materials may be brought in by tutor or instruction given on where you can purchase items
