Sewing & Garment Making - Tailored TrousersSewing & Garment Making - Tailored Trousers [HDF3101G]: Overview
In this tailoring course you will have the unique opportunity to explore making either menswear or womenswear clothing and find out the techniques that make them different to one another and take your sewing skills up to the next level.
Each term, we will cover how to construct different items of clothing, in order to teach the finer methods of tailoring and construction. This is ideal if you have a favourite piece of clothing you want to copy, a commercial pattern that you want to bring to life, or fabric you love that you don't know what to do with.
What will we cover?
During this term we will make a pair of Trousers focussing on waistbands, hip pockets, coin pockets and front zip/ fly openings.
You will learn to modify a commercial pattern to your requirements or copy an existing item of clothing and your tutor will guide you to achieve a good fit and quality finish.
You will learn how to measure yourself properly and which measurements are necessary for the garment you are making.
You will create a toile, fit it and do the appropriate alterations to achieve the perfect fit.
You will then be taught how to transfer these alterations to finalise your pattern.
