Course description

The University of Nottingham

This course is part of a new series of Nurse CPD courses aimed at providing a comprehensive overview of both the background to and management of frequently encountered small animal medical conditions. This course will focus on the common diseases leading to anaemia and coagulopathies in both dogs and cats. The course will use interactive case studies to demonstrate the clinical approach required to achieve a definitive diagnosis. The priorities in managing these conditions will also be discussed in the context of improving patient outcomes. In particular we will discuss the types of blood products and when each of these products including whole blood, packed red cells and plasma are indicated. Methods to improve the long-term outcome of these patients will also be reviewed.
