Course description

The University of Nottingham

There are many common endocrine diseases that affect our small animal patients including diabetes mellitus, Cushing’s disease, under or overactive thyroid glands, calcium imbalances and Addison’s disease. Many of these patients might not be cured but they can live very happily with their diseases. They inevitably need long term management and nurses can therefore be involved not only with the initial diagnostic tests and nursing any crises but also with client support through nurse lead clinics in some situations. This day course will offer an opportunity for nurses to work with case based material to create care plans for hospitalised patients and to practice interpreting blood glucose curves for diabetic patients.
