The ‘Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (MHOR)’ require that employers avoid, assess, and reduce the risk of injury from manual handling at work. In providing training for your employees, you are ensuring that you comply with UK Health and Safety legislation.
TSW’s manual handling course is aligned to the MHOR regulations and will raise awareness and reduce risk in your organisation. It will provide your workers with the required knowledge on the risk factors and how injuries can happen, and how to carry out safe manual handling, including good handling techniques.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Our manual handling training course is aimed at any employee who undertakes manual handling at work and needs to understand the principles of safe manual handling. This includes anyone who may transport or support a load by hand or bodily force. It includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying, or moving a load (which may include an object, person or animal.
Typical roles of staff who undertake this course include:
- Construction workers
- Factory and warehouse workers
- Farm and agricultural workers
- Office workers
- Delivery drivers
Course delivery details
Course assessment depends on whether the course is accredited or not.
- For the Highfield Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling – This qualification is assessed by a multiple-choice examination and a practical examination.
- For the TSW certificated Manual Handling courses – There is no formal assessment. However, when working with our customers we often build in tailored assessment to test the practical application of knowledge and ensure that the learning objectives have been met.
