Course description
The United Kingdom is now a gas-dependent energy economy – this is characterised by significant growth in pipeline gas
and LNG imports, increased demands for greater gas storage, new challenges in the growth of conventional and
unconventional gas production and changing rules relating to third party infrastructure access rights.
In this course leading industry experts will examine the key legal, regulatory, commercial and contractual issues in the UK
gas sector today, with a focus on:
• The current UK gas and LNG production, import and storage landscape, and opportunities for new market
entrants
• The applicable legal and regulatory regime (including statute, licensing, permitting and EU interventions)
• Third party access rights to all aspects of gas infrastructure (under UK and EU law)
• The role the various UK regulatory agencies play in the UK gas sector
• Key contract terms for gas and LNG sales and trading
• LNG imports, terminal access contracts, LNG product delivery and cargo trading restrictions
• Onshore and offshore gas storage project development opportunities
• The prospects for unconventional gas project developments (shale gas, CBM and CMM)
