Course description
This course enables participants the ability to perform the following tasks as applicable to WSN:
Plan the system; this includes the planning, operating and integrating the WSN.
Configure and program the WSN nodes for communications with central control systems.
Programming WSN nodes for performing sensing functions and secure communications compliant with industrial standards.
Course topics include
- Wireless Industrial Control Systems (WICS) - critical infrastructure network design and operations
- Cybersecurity Essentials for WICS - threats, attacks and incidents
Knowledge of threats, attacks and incidents (e.g., nation states, general criminals, inside and outside malicious attackers, hacktivists man-in-the-middle, spoofing, social engineering, DoS/DDoS, data manipulating, session hijacking, foreign software, unauthorised access,)
- Cybersecurity Essentials for WICS - cryptography
Knowledge of cryptography (e.g., symmetric-key and asymmetric-key cryptography, certificate management, PKI, hashing, resource constraints)
- WICS Architecture - communication medium and wireless security
Knowledge of communication medium (e.g., RF, microwave, wireless sensors networks, wireless protocols, wireless security, penetration testing and exploitation)
- WICS Security Assessments and Management - security tools
Security testing tools and management of incidents (e.g., packet sniffer, port scanner, vulnerability scanner, anomalous behaviour, IDS, IPS)
- Physical Security
Knowledge of physical security
