Course description

University of Kent

The Centre for Child Protection is hosting the South East Regional One Day Conference for the National Centre for Therapeutic Residential and Foster Care.

The conference will explore child sexual exploitation and trauma in the context of the care system and the experiences of the young people in care. Contributors to the programme include:

 

Professor David Shemmings, Co-director Centre for Child Protection, University of Kent: Keynote speech.

Dr Jane Reeves, Co-director Centre for Child Protection, University of Kent: Using messages from research to help children and young people to protect themselves.

Yvon Guest, University of the West of England:  Trauma and resilience.

Assistant Chief Constable John Campbell, Thames Valley Police: The role of the Police in multi-agency work.

 Dr Emily Blake, Centre for Child Protection, University of Kent: Why has Jake become a sex offender? (with Dr Reeves).

There will be opportunities for reflection throughout the day.
