Description:
The GDC introduced a new enhanced CPD scheme (ECPD) for dentists in January 2018 and DCPs in August 2018. It is now a requirement for all dental professionals to have a Personal Development Plan (PDP). This course is designed to demystify the ECPD initiative and create awareness of how to learn and improve performance by taking a personal development approach.
Aims:
To provide a background to ECPD and a framework for the PDP.
Objectives:
1. To discuss the requirement for all dental professionals to have a PDP.
2. To discuss the benefits of taking a personal development approach
3. To outline the components of a PDP.
4. To explore the role of reflection as part of formal CPD activities.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Recognise why registrants need to produce a PDP.
2. Summarise the advantages of the PDP process.
3. Use a PDP to carefully consider their role as a dental professional and which CPD will give maximum benefit for maintaining and developing practice in current and future areas of work.
4. Use reflection as a vehicle for identifying and planning CPD activities.
