Course description
The management of oral tumors in dogs and cats often requires a multidisciplinary approach involving surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and medical oncologists. Clinical staging is important in the workup of these cases and different approaches to the assessment of the regional lymph nodes will be debated. Surgery is the mainstay in the treatment of oral tumors in dogs and cats, and different options will be presented and controversies, such as mandibulectomy and maxillectomy in cats and the role of 3D-printed, patient specific implants in mandibular reconstructions, will be addressed. The role of radiation oncologists in the primary and adjuvant management, and medical oncologists in the adjuvant and palliative management of oral tumors will also be considered. The multidisciplinary panel and moderator are world-renowned specialists in the field of oncology and are all friends and colleagues who enjoy the format of panel discussions. This will be a lively and honest, but respectful debate of the issues and controversies in the field of oral tumors management in dogs and cats.
