Course description

ESOL (Part-time)

Our part-time ESOL courses run three times per year. Each course lasts for between 10 and 11 weeks (1 term) Our classes are either 2 mornings or 2 evenings a week, with a total of 5 hours of classroom study per week.

Successful applicants to the ESOL Part-Time program may also have the option of studying on the following related course options:

ESOL Vocational Fast Track (9.5 hour per week, one term course) – This course option enables a student to potentially complete a whole level in one term, rather than over one academic year. This can be suitable for students that want to progress quickly and then progress onto a vocational course or other higher-level course at the college. Places are limited on this course option and are dependent on the individual student’s needs.

ESOL Vocational Support (2.5 hours per week, one year course) – This course option is designed for students that are already studying on a full-time vocational course at the college or are working full-time with a local employer and can only be released one day per week. For this option, the student attends ESOL classes for one morning or one evening a week rather than two and achieves a full level of qualification in one academic year. Places on this course option are limited and only available for Level 1 and Level 2 students.

ESOL + Numeracy (2 hours per week, one-semester course) – This is an additional course option that can be taken alongside a standard ESOL Part-Time course. It enables an ESOL student to gain a Functional Skills Maths qualification alongside their main ESOL qualification.
