Course description

If you are a practising and aspiring Human Resource professional, who is seeking to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of the Human Resources function, this is ideal for you! It is designed to provide contemporary insight upon which to build effective people management practices and strategies across a wide range of HR issues.It can also be very relevant if you are a business or operational manager who wishes to develop Human Resource insight, building upon their existing experience and knowledge of the workplace. It is also very useful for those who wish to make a career move into a substantive role in Human Resources.It will support your continued professional development, drawing upon your relevant experience and building upon previous qualifications. It is a natural progression for those who have already achieved their Level 3 in Human Resource Practice. Students will need to adopt strategic and analytical thinking skills as well as presenting well written assignments to CIPD standards. Students should also enjoy working and sharing insight and experiences with peer professionals.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Candidates will have a good level of education to include English language, verbal and written skills, along with ICT skills such as Microsoft Office. You may have studied Human Resources at Level 3, have good experience in a Human Resources role, or studied a related topic at degree level.

Outcome / Qualification etc.

Effective learning is an individual experience and we will apply a range of techniques to help you get the most from the course. In a group environment you will experience theory, concepts and best practice principles and look to apply them to workplace situations and scenarios. The group can become a learning network to help you develop or take on greater levels of Human Resource responsibilities at both an operational and strategic level.

Training Course Content

The course is designed over 7 modules, from the CIPD Profession Map:

  • Organisational performance and culture in practice
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Professional behaviours and valuing people
  • Employment relationship management
  • Talent management and workforce planning
  • Reward for performance and contribution
  • Specialist in employment law

Course delivery details

We intend the course to be stimulating, challenging but achievable. Excellent attendance is essential to maintain the learning momentum and submit assessments on time. There are no examinations, but there are assessments (one per module). These will demonstrate an application of learning gained throughout each module. The Associate Diploma will be gained by passing all assessments.

The course does require independent research to develop your appreciation of the subject. You should assume that the classroom hours of approximately 5 per week are matched by an equivalent amount of your own time in reading, preparation for class and writing up assessments.

Courses are being offered at our Lackham Campus on Thursdays, 1.00pm – 5.00pm for 34 weeks.

Apprenticeships

The College also offers this Associate Diploma as an integral part of the Level 5 HR Consultant Apprenticeship scheme. Supporting Employers may be able to fund this programme through the Apprenticeship Levy. If your Employer is not currently in receipt of this funding, we will be able to guide them on how this can be achieved.
