Hi Leigh,

thanks for posting!

There are different types of safety training for the oil & gas industry, some of which focus more on the technical aspects, others on the leadership / managerial aspects.

The course that is by far the most popular overall is the NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil & Gas Operational Safety. This is internationally recognised by NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) and offered in a number of different training formats, including distance learning.

This means that , as long as you have access to a computer, you can complete the course from anywhere in the world. Including Sierra Leone! The only issue is the exam, which needs to be sat at an approved centre. But there are many of these all over the world so you should be able to find one that is convenient for you. The best way to see is either to contact NEBOSH directly, or to get in touch with the training company that you are thinking of studying with and asking for specific details about how they usually manage the examination aspect of the course.

Hope this helps and good luck!
