Suitability - Who should attend?
To enrol on our Beauty Therapy Level 3 you will need:
Beauty Therapy Level 2 Certificate or Diploma, from either Activate Learning or another college
AND
Five or more GCSEs grades 4–9 (A*–C), including English and maths
If you are a school leaver you should apply for level 1 or 2 depending on your grades.
Maths and English GCSE Grade 4 and above are also required to progress to level 3.
Your attendance and attitude whilst on the level 2 programme will be the main influencing factor to gain entry to level 3.

The course covers the following areas:
- Health and Safety
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Body Massage
- Hot Stone Massage
- Indian Head Massage
- Facial Electro-Therapies
- Micro-Dermabrasion
- Client Care, Communication and Retail Skills
Course delivery details
You will learn through a mixture of practical and theory lessons. All treatments will be demonstrated by experienced lecturers followed by the opportunity to practice the treatment straight away. You will work on clients to complete your practical assessments and gain industry experience.
You will complete online theory exams to support the practical treatments you are learning, these have a pass mark of 70%. You will produce a portfolio of evidence documenting all the treatments you carry out and you have the opportunity to be graded pass, merit or distinction for your practical assessments. You will build your skills throughout the year and your work placement will complement the college training and hopefully lead to employment.
A minimum of 85% attendance is required by the Examining Board and the college for successful completion of the qualification
