Build a Website in a Week Using HTML5 and CSS3
The benefits of having an online presence are immeasurable. This short course gives you the tools and knowledge to develop and maintain a website independently.
This week-long intensive course takes you through the fundamentals of HTML and CSS, so that you can build a fully functional website that adheres to current industry standards and best practices.
By the end of the week, you will have a solid understanding of the core HTML and CSS principles. The course looks at how and why these languages work in the way they do, giving you a strong foundation to learn more advanced CSS techniques in future.

Ever wanted to develop your own web page? Aimed at beginners with no previous experience in the field, this HTML and CSS intensive course introduces and develops the fundamental skills required to plan, design, develop, validate and maintain websites using HTML and CSS.
Eligibility
Experienced with Microsoft Windows and the use of a web browser.
English requirements
Applicants must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
You will be awarded an official City, University of London certificate if you attend over 70 per cent of the classes. Our short courses are not accredited.
By the end of the course, you will be able to
- Plan, design, develop and publish a website that adheres to current industry standards and best practices.
Training Course Content
- Context: the web environment; W3C/Industry standards; web authoring tools; usability and accessibility.
- Planning and design: the design process; information architecture; design patterns; validating your HTML and CSS.
- HTML: HTML5 fundamentals including semantic markup, page structure, links, images, tables and forms.
- CSS: essential CSS2 and CSS3 skills including text formatting, page layouts, floats and the box model.
- Publishing and maintenance: Publishing a website with FTP; overview of domain names and web hosting; SEO considerations; site management techniques.
