Computing Skills for Life and Work - Beginners:

Subject Contents/Topics to be covered:

  • Keyboard and mouse skills (understand different keys, how to click the mouse and select)
  • Employability skills will be used throughout the course (communication, time keeping, organisational skills)
  • Word Processing (entering, editing basic text, saving and printing)
  • Internet Explorer (basic searching for information on the internet, navigating web pages and using links).

Teaching/Learning Methods:

  • Hands on practice by learners
  • Tutor led sessions
  • One to one tutor sessions
  • Worksheets and exercises
  • Textbooks

Assessment Pattern:

Continuous informal tasks throughout course (a completed personal learning plan tracking your learning, examples of tasks completed).

By the end of the course the learners will be able to:

  • Use keyboard and mouse skills
  • Move around the Windows environment
  • Use Microsoft Word 2016 to understand how to select and make choices in a program
  • Use basic word processing skills
  • Access the internet to do simple searches
  • Understand different applications.
