Suitability - Who should attend?
The Access to HE Diploma is an alternative route to higher education (HE) degree programmes. Please note that as part of the entry criteria many universities will require English and Maths GCSEs at grades A- C in addition to the Access to HE Diploma qualification. You are advised to check the entry requirements for your intended progression route before you apply for the Access course. Some HE institutions may accept alternative qualifications such as Functional Skills level 2 or Qualifications taken outside of the UK. For the Access to HE Diploma applicants should have at least both GCSE in English and Maths at grades A-C on entry (or evidence that an equivalent qualification is accepted by your university of choice). All applicants will be interviewed. If you do not already have the entry qualifications you could consider the following route in order to progress to the Access to HE programme: Complete a two year programme: Year 1: studying GCSE English and Maths Year 2: Access to HE Diploma. For more information please contact our Learner Information team. If your first language is not English you should have a minimum of 6.00 in IELTS alongside a UK or equivalent international qualification (a NARIC check will be required).
