Course description
Ageing itself is not a disease, however, it does result in a gradual decline in the delicate interrelationships between the body systems, which predisposes them to acquired change. Symptoms of age-related change can be subtle and may go unnoticed by owners or their significance under-appreciated. Veterinary Nurses therefore have a pivotal role to play in educating owners of ageing pets regarding the benefits of early diagnosis and implementation of appropriate treatment. The senior clinic can be one of the most rewarding for a veterinary nurse, profitable for the practice and most importantly beneficial for the animal, however it can be a difficult clinic to establish successfully. This full day of senior care nursing will offer theoretical and practical insight into all aspects of senior care, including the ageing process, the senior physical examination and the planning and implementation of senior care clinics.
