Course summary
Being a good teacher/educator for our students is not always an inherent gift but it can be learnt.
This course will cover a range of techniques to aid anyone that teaches others within veterinary practice to become confident teachers/trainers.
Specific areas to be covered
Explore the challenges of teaching in the busy clinical setting
Find ways of helping our students develop, without taking lengthy time away from the clinical environment
Explore clinical reasoning, the science behind our thought processes and how to develop this in our students
Discuss “the teaching moment”
Methods of delivering appropriate feedback
Overcoming the challenges of public speaking, for example, teaching owners at puppy parties.
