Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training
The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) is a requirement for anyone looking to work in a Teaching role in an associate position. This role carries less responsibility than that of a full teaching role.
The qualification is designed for individuals teaching in both the private training industry and in educational institutes.
It is a nationally recognised qualification which allows you to progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training, bringing you closer to being able to gain your QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills).
The guided learning hours for this course are 140 – 204 hours. As the course assignments are all completed on-line, students may study completely at their own pace and will be required to have access to 30 hours of teaching practice whilst on the course (if you have done any teaching in the past 3 months we may be able to take this into consideration).

Suitability - Who should attend?
Those who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector. Learners who have just started a teaching/training role; teachers/trainers who are seeking career progression in their area of work those working with learners on a one-to-one basis; learners who teach in industry; learners who have already achieve some learning and development units that can be counted in this qualification and assessors who wish to achieve a teaching/training qualification.

Learning Outcomes
- Develop an understanding of the skills that underpin literacy, language, numeracy and ICT and use them to help learners succeed in their studies.
- Encourage the development of inclusive practices when addressing the literacy, language, numeracy and ICT needs of learners.
- Raise awareness of the benefits of developing embedded approaches to teaching, learning and assessment of English, maths and ICT.
- Provide signposts to useful materials which will support collaborative working with specialist teachers of literacy, language, numeracy and ICT in understanding how to integrate these skills within other areas of specialism.
