Functional Skills Maths Level 2 for Work and Study - PT Day - FMSL2D
If you want to pursue an Access course or an Apprenticeship and you are not quite ready, then this is the course for you. The English and maths for Work and Study is a course which allows you to gain level 1 or level 2 qualifications in Functional Skills maths and English in order to be ready for the next step: Access, an Apprenticeship or further study. The course is for adult learners (19 plus).

Suitability - Who should attend?
There are no set entry requirements. When you come to enrol, you will be assessed for suitability and to agree the level you can study. Prior qualifications will be used where appropriate.
Training Course Content
Functional Skills Level 2 maths covers a variety of real life problems which help you implement mathematical skills. You will study different topics within these three areas:
-Using number and the number system- whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages.
-Using common measures, shape and space.
-Handling information and data.
Course delivery details
The course is delivered over 27 weeks of classroom taught lessons for 2.5 hours a week. You will be expected to combine this with a further 2 hours of guided study a week on an online platform called Century.
You will take an exam covering the topics you have studied which is separated into two parts: Section A: Non-calculator 25 minutes - 16 marks = 25% overall Section B: Calculator 1 hour 30 minutes - 48 marks = 75% overall. This is an externally assessed exam.
Continuing Studies
Gaining a Functional Maths Level 2 can provide an entry point into a wide variety of study options from Access, an Apprenticeship, teacher training and many universities will accept Level 2 as an equivalent to a GCSE grade 4.
