Course description
In this course students will work from life and will be drawing and painting with a variety of media. You will explore colour, spatial relationships, paper, painting tools and mark making. You will learn about tone, temperature, how to draw with paint and express yourselves with colour. You will look at some exciting art works and artists and will be painting with gouache and acrylic in a manner that can be applied to oil painting. You will do demonstrations for each exercise. Our goal will be to create our own unique paintings while experimenting with new methods and ways of seeing. The course is designed to further your painting skills and knowledge of color and will hopefully inspire you to go home and continue painting. By the end of this course you will gain confidence to experiment with a range of painting to enable students to pursue their own aims; increase practical knowledge in using tone, colour, line and texture; gain knowledge of some of the ways famous artists have used a range of paint techniques.
