Painting without Boundaries

Howard Hodgkins' paintings lack a conventional framed "boundary". Many of Turner's watercolours remained unframed, whilst Cornelia Parker's work creates a language of conceptual "boundaries" only. Despite their contrasting approaches, however, all three artists reveal a common recognition of skills which will be taught, such as colour-theory, drawing and painting techniques and composition. Through practical painting, dialogue and instruction, this new course will explore the paradox of "painting without boundaries" within constraint that may or may not be necessary.
