Course description

Kirby Morgan DSI Basic Maintenance & Repair Technician

This course instructs divers, tenders, and dive system technicians how to perform routine repair and maintenance of all KMDSI Helmets, BandMask, and other specific associated equipment including first stage regulators, whips and gauges. The course also covers how to conduct Helmet and BandMask inspections, adjustments, and overhauls as well as face port insert testing and security., removal and repairing the side block, removal of weights and learn about the KMDSI set-up and maintenance checklists, and Operations and Maintenance Manuals.

The basic technician course does not include instruction in fiberglass and gel coat repair. Upon completion, each student will receive a three-year certification valid for the individual's own equipment and/or the company or affiliate company's equipment for which the individual works, as well as equipment belonging to other diving employees of the company as dictated by company policy.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This training course is intended for divers, tenders and dive system technicians who perform routine repair and maintenance on any or all kind of KMDSI helmets, BandMask and other associated equipment.

KBA Training technicians are trained to instruct on the following Kirby Morgan equipment:

  • Superlite Series SL-17A/B SL-17K
  • SL-27, SL-17C Helmets
  • KM-37, KM-47, KM-57
  • KM-77 Helmets KMB 18/28 Band Masks
  • EXO 26BR
  • EXO Non Balanced
  • KMAC -5. M48 FFM Superflow 1st Stage Regulator

Outcome / Qualification etc.

Upon completion, each delegate will receive a 3-year certification, which is valid for one's own equipment and/or the company/affiliated company's equipment with which the individual works. In circumstances where it is allowed by company policy, this certificate is also valid for equipment belonging to other diving employees of the company.

This KB Morgan DSI Basic Maintenance & Repair course covers the following material:

  • Routine repair & maintenance on KMDSI helmets, BandMasks, and other relevant equipment
  • Conducting helmet and BandMask inspections, adjustments and overhauls
  • Face port insert testing and security
  • Removal and repair of the side block
  • Removal of weights
  • The KMDSI set-up and maintenance check-list
  • The KMDSI Operations and Maintenance Manuals

NB: This course does not offer instruction on fiberglass and gel coat repair.
