Sewing - Fashion Design: Learn high quality construction methods used in the clothing industry, giving your clothes a shop-bought look. You will be able to work on your own project, at your own pace; your project can be anything from tailoring coats to skirts, trousers, children's wear, fleeces or evening wear. I will show you all the processes needed to complete your project. These will include: choice of pattern and fabric, basic pattern alterations, basic fitting, advice on cutting your fabric; basic construction methods e.g. seam finishes, correct pressing for your fabric. Sewing darts, invisible, lapped and fly front zips, waistbands and facings, machine buttonholes and use of interfacings. Construction methods for the more advanced projects will include jacket fitting, setting sleeves, collar and rever construction, lining jackets and coats, pockets, trouser fitting and handling special fabrics.
