Course description
This qualification is aimed at you if you, are looking to start a career in the electrical industry. This qualification is suitable for anyone from 16 years old or over. There are no formal entry requirements for anyone wishing to take this qualification. This qualification covers a very wide range of skills and knowledge required for preparing to work in the Electrical industry. The following areas that will be covered within this qualification:
- Health and safety
- Principles of electrical science
- Electrical installations
- Installation of wiring systems
- Communication within building services engineering.
Centres and providers may work with local employers who can contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers may provide demonstrations and talks on the industry and where possible work placements will also be provided by the employers. This practically based training is ideal preparation for training on the job or specialist further study. On completion of this course students can progress on to Level 3 in electrical installation or find a job as an electrician's mate in the electrical contracting or maintenance industries.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Students need to have Three GCSEs A*-D/9-3 including English, with maths A*-C/9-4; OR a relevant Level 1 qualification plus English and maths assessed by us to be at an appropriate level. Suitable for people without experience in electrical and are looking to get into the industry, subject to interview and references.
