Course description
This course has been created to cover the practical aspects of handling tools, equipment and materials from the works vehicle and around construction sites. It uses theoretical and practical training to provide advice and guidance on the safest way to move and handle their equipment.
Suitability - Who should attend?
Candidates must have completed a basic principles manual handling course within the last 3 years. Any existing injuries or conditions affecting the candidate’s ability to lift should be communication to the training centre prior to the course to allow us to make reasonable adjustments.
Training Course Content
Understand Potential Hazards, Injuries and Ill Health associated with Material Handling
Understanding safe handling controls
Understand the principles of safe movement
Understand the issues surrounding pipe and cable movement
Be able to safely move and handle various items of equipment and materials around the work area and install pipe and cable.
Course delivery details
The course is delivered via a power point presentation by a tutor which includes;
• Discussion and theory presentation
• Final Assessment – this consists of two parts. Firstly an examination consisting of 10 multiple choice questions where candidates must achieve 8/10 correctly answers in order to pass the assessment. The second part of the assessment consists of a marked practical exercise in which the candidate must show good lifting techniques in the various movements required.
