Course description
This course is for you if you have already completed Entry 3 Functional Skills and the first year of a Level 1 course and received a certificate in English Skills in speaking and listening; reading and writing; If you have and need to improve your English further for your work; to get employment or to access another vocational course. You will gain accreditation at Functional Skills Level 1.
You will learn how to improve your speaking and listening; reading; writing and grammar skills needed for everyday life and employment at Level 1 and to access vocational courses. Your tutor will discuss and agree with you any individual topics you wish to cover.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Entry Criteria: to have completed the first year at Level 1 and completed all assessments in speaking and listening; reading and writing successfully at this level; to have been assessed and demonstrated that you have the potential to pass Level 1 Functional Skills; to agree to attend the whole course and have 90% attendance; to be prepared to take assessments during the course and the final examinations (if appropriate). If progressing from another course to have: shown the necessary commitment to learning by achieving at least 80% attendance; passed any tests or assessments (if appropriate); very good punctuality; regularly completed homework.
