This course, for the general practitioner, is a practical guide to the correct diagnosis and management of the most frequent cancers in cats. The course will be taught using interactive discussion of clinical cases. Subject matter will include the role of clinical stage in a patient’s prognosis, the general and specific options for therapy, and the importance of prompt diagnosis and management of affected cases. For each neoplasm and clinical stage, multiple treatment options will be discussed, including both palliative options and those to suit the expectations and budget of the client.
Topics:
Diagnosis and current therapy options for:
• Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and mast cell tumours
• Feline lymphoma
• Feline injection site sarcoma
• Feline mammary tumours
• Feline oral squamous cell carcinoma
Learning objectives:
For each tumour type the participants will learn the principle and advances in:
• Diagnosis & Clinical staging
• Curative intent and palliative treatments
• Rescue therapies, included metronomic chemotherapy
• Less costly options
Required delegate attributes:
General practitioners at any level of experience. The course can be an introduction for the least experienced or work as an update for example certificate holders. General principles of diagnosis and treatment are discussed alongside the most recent advances and rescue protocols through both simple and complex cases.
