Suitability - Who should attend?

If you’re responsible for carrying out fire risk assessments, the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety gives you relevant knowledge and understanding to complete a thorough, effective assessment.

The fire safety qualification is relevant for anyone with fire safety responsibilities. For example, health and safety managers, facilities managers and health and safety representatives.

Training Course Content

The qualification splits into six elements:

  1. Managing fire safety
  2. Principles of fire and explosion
  3. Fuel, oxygen and ignition sources and control measures
  4. Fire protection of buildings
  5. Safety of people in the event of a fire
  6. Fire safety risk assessment

Course delivery details

  • The eight-hour assessment comprises an open book exam (Unit FSC1: Fire Safety) and assessed assignment (Unit FSC2: Fire risk assessment).
  • In the five-hour exam, you will answer questions about fire safety in a realistic workplace and situation. You’ll also need to use the evidence presented in the scenario to complete a series of tasks. To pass the assessment, you must demonstrate everything you have learned throughout the course.
  • The three-hour assignment asks you to complete a fire risk assessment using a fire risk assessment standard (like the Home Office fire guidance and PAS79-1:2020).

“We know assessments can be challenging, but our expert training team will be on hand to support you with any concerns and make sure you are ready to sit the assessment.

Don’t worry – we’ll make sure you have everything you need!” – Stuart Davies, Managing Director at TSW Training
