Sport Level 3 National Extended Diploma (Banbury FC)

Suitability - Who should attend?

Five or more GCSEs grades 4 (C) or above including English and maths or a BTEC level 2 Diploma at grade Merit or Distinction plus GCSE grade 4 (C) or above or Functional Skills at level 2 in English and maths

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

Training Course Content

What you'll learn

You study 18 modules over the two years including:

  • assessing risks
  • coaching
  • fitness testing and training exercise
  • health and lifestyle
  • injuries massage
  • instructing physical activity
  • nutrition
  • organising sport
  • physiology for fitness
  • practical team/individual sport analysis of sport performance leadership in sport
  • principles of anatomy and physiology
  • psychology
  • sport as a business
  • sports development
  • work experience

You will improve your knowledge in a range of sports science topics while also developing both your coaching and playing skills.

You will develop self-confidence teamwork and organisation skills. You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to manage your time effectively and be responsible for the football club environment in which you are based.

You will also develop your ability to produce professional documents such as letters and reports and to deliver presentations.

The course gives you the chance to study for the Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football too, which incorporates emergency response first aid and the safeguarding children workshop.

By the end of this course you will have improved the broader skills vital for success in further study or employment, including:

  • self-confidence
  • speaking in front of others
  • working with others
  • taking responsibility
  • managing your time
