Course description
YMCA Level 1 Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure. Is a course designed to give students a good overall perspective of the sports Industry and the different pathways they can go down. You will study ten units that will prepare you for work in the Sports industry. You may also choose to progress onto one of the Level 2 Sports pathways.
Course content:
The Units you will study include:- How the Body Works; Improving Own Fitness; Taking Part in Exercise and Fitness; Planning Own Fitness Programme; Investigating Rights and Responsibilities at Work; Taking Part in Sport; Assisting a Leader of Sports or Active Leisure Activities to Plan and Deliver an Activity; Job Opportunities in Sport and Active Leisure; Working in Sport and Active Leisure; Sport and Active Leisure Project; Managing Your Health at Work.
Work Experience/Employability Skills:
Work experience will be undertaken by all students, you will work with the Sports Team throughout the year working as a Recreation Assistant in Pulse gym/Sports Hall, this is a mandatory part of your course.
Progression:
After successful completion of the course, learners will be able to apply for a Level 2 course, subject to interview and grades achieved, or go on to work in the sports industry.
