Course description
In January 2024 the government is introducing new regulations to update the way that holiday pay and leave entitlement is calculated for part year and irregular hours (casual) workers. The changes mean that for the first time payroll professionals will have a statutory framework confirming how the pay calculations for these workers should be operated in practice. This one hour webinar will give you an overview of what is changing with the introduction of The Employment Rights (Amendment, Revocation and Transitional Provision) Regulations (2023), as well as when these changes will become effective. To ensure that you are confident in your understanding of these complicated rules, this webinar provides you with practical guidance and worked examples.

Suitability - Who should attend?
The new regulations introduced in January 2024 may bring back 12.07% and other accrual rates for holiday pay, however, this change is not certain to be straightforward and will only affect leave years beginning in April 2024. For organisations with leave years beginning before this date there is likely to be a transition period potentially lasting up to March 2025. This webinar will provide you with an understanding of the key areas of change and ensure you are confident in how to comply with the new regulations during this transition period.
Understanding holiday pay and leave is vital to be able to:
- Calculate how much leave a worker is entitled to
- Pro-rate leave entitlement where a worker begins or leaves part way through a leave year
- Calculate holiday payments
- Make payment for final holiday
- Comply with statutory obligations for worker entitlements
