Course description

Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Computing - Security

On this course, you will cover a wide variety of theoretical and practical development skills. You will gain skills in identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities in computer networks and systems, as well as learning how to protect them against hacker attacks. You will combine your interest in forensics, computer networks and security to become the cyber security professional of the future.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Satisfactory completion of Level 4 Higher National Certificate in relevant computing-related subjects with a good attendance and an excellent College report. External applicants will be considered subject to matching of HNC units and satisfactory references. All students who are non-native English speakers and who have not undertaken their final two years of schooling in English, must demonstrate capability in English at a standard equivalent to IELTS 5.5; Reading and Writing must be at 5.5 or equivalent. Mature students with appropriate related industry experience are encouraged to apply.

Course delivery details

Monday-Friday

09:00 - 17:00

  • 75% classroom-based learning supervised by a tutor
  • 20% work-based learning supervised by a tutor
  • 5% e-Learning supervised by a tutor in real time, guest speakers and field trips (Optional).

Students will attend college for 15 hours – over three days. Students are expected to complete approximately 22.5 hours per week of independent study (i.e. on research in LRC and completing assignments).
