Course description

There are many taxation aspects which are special to close companies, some of which go back 100 years. In FA 2013, the wide-ranging ‘loans to participators’ regime was strengthened. At the same time, detailed anti-avoidance legislation was introduced to discourage the practice of ‘enveloping’ valuable residential properties in companies and this was significantly extended by F(No2)A 2017.

This virtual classroom session identifies the main problem areas with close companies and suggests ways of overcoming them. It is presented by Robert Jamieson, a past president of the Chartered Institute of Taxation who is a regular trainer on tax matters.
