Course description

Advisers need to provide advice to the lay attorney, as agent of the donor for them to undertake their role and ensure they act in the donor's best interests. Getting it wrong can result in fallings out within the family and removal by the Court of Protection.

It is not sufficient that a donor simply chooses an attorney they trust, the attorney needs to be supported to navigate this complex area.

Presented by Caroline Bielanska, this virtual classroom seminar is suitable for fee earners who advise and draft LPAs and will explore deprivation of liberty and mental health detention and the welfare attorney's role; identifying who is your client in different situations; when to provide copies of LPAs to the attorney, and more.
