So, you have volunteered (or been chosen) for the position of the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP). Knowing where to begin can seem daunting, as not only is the COLP vital to ensuring that firms meet their regulatory obligations under the SRA Handbook, but the role also carries personal liability, so it is essential that newly appointed COLPs get up to speed with their responsibilities quickly.
