Course description

Recent polls suggest as many as 18% of couples in the UK met through work. Whilst personal relationships are therefore common in the workplace, they can also be problematic, having a negative impact on colleagues, causing concerns over conflicts of interest or disrupting team or line management relationships. Employment and HR professionals should therefore make sure they are up to speed on the legislation and best practice in this area so that they are able to navigate these sensitive issues.

Paul Jennings presents this live and interactive broadcast which will cover the right to respect for private and family life, the common challenges from a management perspective, and more.

Training Course Content

Introduction

Many individuals meet their partner at work - indeed, some polls suggest that the proportion of couples that met through work may be as high as 18%.

In many cases a personal relationship between members of staff will not interfere with work, and some polls indicate that the majority of staff are open to the possibility of dating a colleague.

However, personal relationships between staff who are working alongside each other can become problematic, for example, where there is a negative impact on colleagues, potential conflicts of interest (or perceived conflicts of interest), and particularly where the individuals are in the same team or in a line management relationship.

Aimed at employment lawyers and HR professionals, this virtual classroom seminar will consider the law in relation to personal relationships in the workplace and will offer guidance on best practice to tackle some of the tricky issues which office relationships can present.
