Course description
Research suggests that the job interview is not a terribly efficient way of selecting people. Many interviews are unfocused chats and many people have a tendency to choose the people they like best, rather than necessarily the right candidate.
With some preparation, however, the selection interview can become a tool to assess applications in a more systematic way.
This 1 hour introductory-level webinar will discuss how to structure interviews, helpful and unhelpful behaviours by the interviewer, questioning techniques, active listening, how to write an employee specification and assessment plan, and an example best practice interview. It is presented by John Trimbos, a training consultant specialising in management skills who previously worked as an in-house training manager at Ashurst and Norton Rose. Be sure to tune in for his words of wisdom on this subject.
