Local authorities are increasingly issuing care proceedings in relation to children who have travelled without an adult to seek asylum in the UK. These cases present their own unique set of challenges for practitioners, particularly in light of the current approach to immigration.
This virtual classroom seminar will explore the key challenges that care practitioners need to consider in these cases and how these challenges should be approached. Prior knowledge of care proceedings is assumed.
Presented by expert barrister Sophie Crampton, the topics discussed will include jurisdiction, threshold, the child’s immigration status, and the location and assessment of the child’s family, including biological parents.
