There may be a view in some quarters that landlords are reluctant to let until certain of obtaining a high rent. Landlords would point, though, to the many headaches of holding vacant property, from maintaining security, mitigating rates liability if possible, dealing with disrepair and reinstatement, clearing the property of tenant’s goods, and managing risk to anyone visiting the property. Taken together, the problems are usually sufficient to outweigh any advantages.
