A 4 day course to develop and create layered silkscreen prints, employing hand drawn and photographic images to make multi coloured prints. Explore and experiment with the printing process using paper stencils, overprinting and layering shape to create interesting effects and colour blends. Using hand and/or machine stitch, embroider the printed surface to enhance and embellish. Develop further with quilting to make stylish soft furnishings to brighten and delight.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- stretch a silkscreen
- make stencils and explore different methods of screen printing including exposing an image onto a photo sensitive screen
- learn how to silk screen print onto paper and fabric with a good understanding of how to register and overprint print in a combination of different ways
- decorate and embellish the surface of the prints using simple stitching and embroidery techniques
