Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in Risk and Safety Management: customisable in-house distance learning or face-to-face risk management course
Filling a gap in the market for industry-related courses in risk and safety management, Risktec's Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) in Risk and Safety Management aims to provide risk practitioners with the practical skills needed to progress in the industry.
Delivered via face-to-face classroom courses or by online learning (or a combination of the two), Risktec's PgCert syllabus - validated by Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) - is the first of a three-part series of postgraduate programmes designed to meet the needs of a growing industry. Taught by highly experienced teachers with practical experience of the risk and safety profession, the modules are kept up-to-date with current standards and regulatory developments to provide an industry-focused understanding of:
- The use of risk assessment in relation to its objectives and drives
- Practical risk management tools & techniques for diverse situations
- The development or real solutions to risk management problems
- The shortcomings of risk management
- The need for effective communication of risk
Students progress through the syllabus with access to high quality course materials as well as the opportunity to interact with their fellow participants through group exercises and discussions. The resulting qualification will enable them to prove their commitment to the risk management profession and kick-start their career progression in the real professional world.

Suitability - Who should attend?
The PgCert in Risk and Safety Management is designed for new and experienced practitioners looking to certify their skills in implementing practical risk management in major hazard industries including:

Pre-requisites
Candidates must have a relevant Bachelor degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience. They must also have proven English language capability and broadband Internet access.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
Students who complete the course and all relevant assessments will receive a PgCert in Risk and Safety Management validated by Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). They can then choose to upgrade to a PgDip or MSc programme.
Training Course Content
Students are required to complete 6 modules to gain the 60 credits required.
The modules can be selected from Risktec Solutions' diverse range of risk and safety management courses, which include cross-industry modules as well as those focusing on risk and safety in the oil and gas, nuclear, rail, defence and renewable industries.
Course delivery details
Course format & materials
For clients who select distance learning, enrolment on the course gives students access to the Risktec Online learning environment. The module material includes slides and explanatory notes plus references to further reading and useful websites. Students engage in online activities including tests, discussions and group tasks. Support from the module teacher is available throughout the programme.
For clients who select face-to-face classroom delivery, the programme is scheduled according to their specific requirements.
Other training formats
The PgCert is also available as an open scheduled course for individual students (distance learning).
