Structural waterproofing: methods and best practice
Structural Waterproofing is the term that describes methods used to prevent groundwater entering building structures that are below ground. Waterproofing is required when a new underground structure is created or an existing basement is refurbished to provide a usable or habitable space. Waterproofing and drainage are important where groundwater is likely to build up in the soil and cause hydrostatic pressure (ground water under pressure) to be exerted on the walls and floors of the basement structure. Surveyors must be aware of all types of structural waterproofing systems, British Standard BS8102: 2009, and the design, planning and installation stages of any structural waterproofing projects below ground.

Mike Bromley re-joined the PCA as Technical Manager in May 2013. This followed a 4-year period of senior management for a National Property Care Company and 2 years working as a specialist surveyor in the property-care industry. He previously worked for the BWPDA (now PCA) between 1990 and 2007.

- The standard price for a half day course is £90.00
- For Individual and Organisations booking three or more half day courses at one time can obtain the courses for £75.00 each course as a multirate discount
- For APC candidates/Retired attendees the price is £60.00 per course
