  • Professional registration as a healthcare professional:
    • Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
    • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Working in health and social care.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:

  • Reflect critically on your communication when building rapport with patients and staff
  • Explore critically the theory and practice of communication, and relate to your own practice
  • Demonstrate skill in listening and facilitating patient’s expression of their physical problems, as well as emotional worries and concerns
  • Identify barriers to communication and how they can be overcome
  • Understand the need for support and clinical supervision.

Course delivery details

For the 2022/23 curriculum, our CPD moduleswill be delivered usinghybrid learning. This means that depending on the subject and content of learning and teaching, modules will mainly be delivered via a combination of face to face and online delivery, as this has worked really well for our practice-based colleagues. A couple of modules will be delivered solely online, however for most modules face to face contact time and attendance at the university will be required.
