Supporting Teaching & Learning In Schools (QCF) - Level 3 Distance Learning Course, 180 hours of self study
This Supporting Teaching & Learning In Schools (QCF) - Level 3 Course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the roles and duties of anyone involved in supporting learning and teaching in schools, with a view to giving them the knowledge to perform such roles in an effective, independent way.
The distance learning programme involves 180 hours of self study and covers all of the fundamental skills needed for a Classroom Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support position, preparing students to aid a Teacher in the delivery of a curriculum and helping children or young people to develop learning skills, self-esteem and independence. It also aims to help learners build on their professional and technical expertise, while developing an awareness of the need to promote and maintain positive relationships in a school environment.
Successful students will achieve a Level 3 Certificate Qualification listed on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) database. Please note that a position or voluntary work placement of at least 50 hours in a school environment is required to complete this option.
Suitability - Who should attend?
This Supporting Teaching & Learning In Schools (QCF) - Level 3 Course is suitable for those working in schools, particularly as Teaching Assistants, Classroom Assistants or Learning Support Assistants.
Pre-requisites
Students must be over 16 and must be able to complete a 50 hour placement in order to finish the course. Beginners should consider the Level 2 Qualification Course before attempting Level 3.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
Students are assessed via a portfolio of evidence that evaluates their learning against the criteria of the course via their coursework and placement. Successful students will be achieve the NCFE Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools Certificate.
Further Studies
This course allows candidates to aims to provide progression to the NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and/or into employment. Learners may also progress to achieve HLTA (HIgher Level Teaching Assistant) status.
